I owe much of my Scout, academic and professional training to the initiatives of the Inter-American Scout Region and I would like to be able to repay all the opportunities I have had; providing even more opportunities for young people in our region. It was thanks to the Inter-American Leadership Training (ILT) that, for the first time, I had the opportunity to leave the country, in 2018. The ILT’s multicultural experience was also the determining factor in the decision to pursue a career in International Relations.
It was also during this event that I met the people who gave me the opportunity to represent the Inter-American Region at UN events for the first time, a factor that was fundamental for my professional life. As you can see, the Inter-American Scout Region (as well as the Inter-American Scout Foundation) contributed significantly to my upbringing. Therefore, I say that the feeling of gratitude and willingness to serve are genuine.
In this triennium, we will have the end of our 2023 vision and the responsibility to think beyond what is already established. I will use this opportunity, if elected, to advocate for progressive Scouting, committed to the reality around us, valuing diversity, inclusion and working with other agents of transformation in society. I believe that youth are agents of change and, with that in mind, I want to use my life experience, Scout, academic and professional to support the Inter-American Scout Committee in the best possible way.
Summarizing my motivations: Scouting, especially the Inter-American Region, has opened many doors in my life. Motivating me today to make my name available to my Scout brothers and sisters is a single and beautiful feeling: gratitude!
